Interstellar is in theaters again after 10 years

 


It grossed $7.5 million in five days

The re-released Interstellar earned $7.5 million over the course of five days. Christopher Nolan commented on the renewed interest in the 2014 sci-fi film, saying, "It's incredibly gratifying that, even after a decade, audiences still want to experience the movie on the big screen in its original format."

Christopher Nolan's 2014 science fiction film Interstellar was re-released in IMAX theaters to mark its 10th anniversary.

Shown in only 165 theaters across the U.S., the film grossed $7.5 million in just five days, drawing significant attention from audiences. Tickets sold out quickly, and some were resold on the black market for as much as $215. In Turkey, the film was shown in 10 IMAX theaters, attracting 14,509 viewers in just one week, making it one of the top-grossing films.

According to an Associated Press report, Interstellar, for which Nolan fought hard to preserve the value of its film format, has now become the ninth most-watched film in IMAX history.

Nolan described the renewed interest in Interstellar after all these years as "incredibly rewarding," stating, "It’s a great joy to see that even after 10 years, audiences still want to experience the film on the big screen in its original format." He also highlighted that this experience reaffirms the magic of cinema, adding, "We’ve seen the power of movie theaters once again."
